Setting off
After meeting at Union Wharf marina in Market Harborough at 9am for your comprehensive boat handling training, you’ll be handed the keys to set off on your wonderful day out. Cruise along the Market Harborough Arm of the Grand Union Canal, a peaceful 5-mile stretch of wandering countryside, right in the heart of the East Midlands.
A gentle cruise
Along the way, navigate two swing bridges, before arriving in the basin at the bottom of Foxton Locks. Moor up in this picturesque area and enjoy a relaxed lunch.
Canalside lunch
Our day boats are kitted out with a kitchenette and all the kitchenware you need to enjoy a picnic on board. Or step ashore to explore the canalside gastropubs and café that Foxton Locks has to offer. Enjoy Bridge 61, the Foxton Locks Inn, or the Top Lock Cottage café.
Return journey
Enjoy a gentle cruise back through the beautiful Market Harborough Arm of the Grand Union Canal, and drift back into the Union Wharf marina by 4.30pm (or 4pm in darker months) to end your narrowboat adventure.
